A conclusion to the charity cycle ride
I was very pleased with how the bike ride went and fortunately the training and investment in “wet weather” clothing that I had done prior to the event proved invaluable. I had done plenty of 60+ mile training rides around the hills in the area and was feeling okay that my old bike and me could make it back to Huddersfield.
The weather during the four days was best described as mixed, but never warm. The worst was the second day between Bath and Birmingham when it rained for the last 40 miles into Birmingham. At that point all I yearned for was a warm bath and a cold pint! The camaraderie between everyone was fantastic as we all supported and helped each other along the way and made sure that no-one was left to suffer alone.
The sense of achievement at the end of the event was fabulous and all 300 cyclists were made to feel very special as we came into Huddersfield with people lining the streets and cheering us along.
I would like to thank everyone we has supported me during this challenge and I am very pleased to have raised £1,800 to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance & Huddersfield Town Academy – I could not have done this without the support of everyone around me.
Once again thanks very much.
